The crater Longomontanus A 150 km x 150 km walled plain near the crater Schiller. The craters on the left part of this image in the center are the craters ROST. The southern portion of Schiller is visible at the top left of the image. Images taken with TEC-140 Telescope mounted on Losmandy G11 mount. Camera used was a Canon EOS20D. The image was taken using a 5x Powermate and eyepiece projection with a 13.8 mm SWA Plossl. Five 25 second exposures aligned and stacked using ImagesPlus 2.50 beta and sharpened and dust and scratch filtered in Photoshop CS Note, ImagesPlus 2.10A was used for focus. Due to the long apparent focal length of the imaging chain used here (~f/200), focusing was difficult. The camera also had some dust on the imaging sensor and removal of this also softened the image (this dust can be clearly seen on the right of this image -- note, there are multiple images due to the stacking). |
